Security operatives guard Tinubu’s billboards ahead of rally

Security operatives have been deployed to guard campaign billboards and posters of President Bola Tinubu in Kaduna ahead of the planned flag-off of the All Progressives Congress presidential campaign on Saturday.

As reported by Daily Trust, personnel of the Kaduna State Traffic Law Enforcement Authority and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps are among those assigned to protect the campaign materials against possible vandalism ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The deployment covers strategic locations across the metropolis, particularly major roads leading to the Kaduna Township Stadium, where Tinubu is expected to launch his re-election campaign.

A security operative involved in the exercise told Daily Trust that personnel had been directed to protect the billboards and posters from the stadium area to Kawo, with particular attention to night-time security.

“We were assigned alongside KASTLEA marshals to protect Tinubu’s billboards and posters from being vandalised before the campaign rally. Our duty is mostly at night because that is when the youths can carry out such acts,” the source said.

The operative added that the assignment followed a circular issued by the unit directing some personnel to provide security for the campaign materials.

Meanwhile, police officers and plain-clothes operatives have also been stationed at major roads and roundabouts across Kaduna as security preparations intensify ahead of the President’s visit. Patrol vehicles were sighted around the stadium and along Ahmadu Bello Way.

The Kaduna Township Stadium has also been repainted and decorated with APC flags and campaign posters of Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima and Governor Uba Sani. Access to the venue has been restricted ahead of the rally, while its facilities have been prepared for the expected gathering.

The deputy governor and chairperson of the rally’s Local Organising Committee, Hadiza Balarabe, said preparations were progressing satisfactorily, adding that security arrangements had been discussed with relevant officials at the state and federal levels.

The state Commissioner for Information and Culture, Ahmed Maiyaki, said mobilisation was ongoing and hotels and service apartments across the metropolis had been fully booked ahead of the event, which is expected to attract party supporters and governors from the seven North-West states.
