Ondo Gov's wife vows to end gender based violence


The wife of Ondo state governor,Mrs Betty Anyanwu Akeredolu has said that all hands must be on deck to stop the inhuman behavior against  girls and women in our society. 

Mrs Akeredolu made this known in Akure, the Ondo state capital on Thursday at the government House, Alagbaka that the rate at which the women are being molested should be fought head-long.

 Speaking, at the event , Commissioner for women affairs , Mrs Julianah Osadahun condemned the action and pleaded that legal action in it's full fledge should be taken against the perpetrators .


She said further that  the menace should also  be handled  seriously the way COVID 19 and campaign against AIDS  were handled, so as to put an end to the violence.

The program which was tagged " 16 days of activism against gender - based violence" aimed at  ending  violence against women by some miscreants in the society. 


Mrs Akeredolu said every one must  shout and scream against such act.

The first lady of the state  said she has institutionalized an agency and a law has been  passed  call VAPP - LAW which has already  criminalized any acts against women and girl child.

During her good will message, the Special Adviser to the governor on Gender matters Mrs Olamide Falana had earlier enjoined parents to voice out when such ugly incident happened around them saying that ,such victim will be protected against stigmatization.



Mrs Akeredolu encouraged the women to support and vote massively for the fellow women  into the position of authority so as to represent them and the  girl child in making the protection a reality. She therefore said that the underline factors should be looked into by the parents through the ways  they bring up their wards.

She frown at the female mutilation which is seeing to be painful and harmful that  has no medical & health benefits. She suggested that such act can be adjusted or rather changed for a better living.
