The Chairman Christian Association of Nigeria ( CAN) in Ondo State, Reverend Fr. Anselm Ologunwa, has tasked members as the presidential election draws closer to continue to speak the language of non-violence and continually give hope to their followers.
Ologunwa urged Christians to remain peaceful and law abiding before, during and after the elections.
He made the declaration at the first Quarterly state executive council meeting of the association held at the CAN House, Alagbaka, Akure on Thursday.
The chairman urged Christians’ leaders to use their privileged positions as leaders to encourage their people to come out en masse on the days of the election to vote for the candidates that meet their convictions.
The state chairman reminded the religious leaders of the importance of prayers to their country, describing it as most potent instrument of warfare against the economic, political and security challenges in the country.
He affirmed that the association has resisted all entreaties and overtures that were designed to make it compromise it’s position on non – partisanship.
The chairman commended the religious leaders for standing by this earlier decision and urged them to continue to maintain such stand.
The chairman added the ongoing hardship occasioned by the currency redesign , fuel scarcity and rising cost of living as a temporary phase in the country’s journey to a stable and prosperous nation.
The chairman who described 2023 as a trying moment in the country assured Christians that God would make all things beautiful in their lives and in the nation.
