Road Accidents: Causes and Preventions

Road accidents are common occurrence that result in loss of life and property and they happen due to various reasons such as over speeding, lack of concentration by driver, sleeping while driving, driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol or reckless driving to mention few.

Over Speeding, most of the fatal accidents occur due to over speeding. It is a natural psyche of humans to excel. If given a chance man is sure to achieve infinity in speed. But when we are sharing the road with other users we will always remain behind some or other vehicle. Increase in speed multiplies the risk of accident and severity of injury during accident.

Furthermore, Lack of attention is another major cause of road accidents. Drivers who are distracted by their phones, radios, or other distractions, can miss important information on the road, such as traffic signals, road signs, and other drivers' actions. This can result in accidents, as the driver is unable to react to changing road conditions in time.

Another major cause of road accidents is driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. This can severely impair a driver's ability to operate a vehicle safely, leading to increased risk of accidents. Alcohol can affect a driver's reaction time, coordination, and judgment, while drugs can impair a driver's ability to concentrate and make decisions. Alcohol reduces concentration. Limbs take more to react to the instructions of brain. It hampers vision due to dizziness. Alcohol dampens fear and incite humans to take risks.

However, unsafe roadway conditions are also part of an underlying contributor to a number of accidents in the country. A poorly designed, I'll maintained or over bended roadway also poses a greater significant risks to even the most careful driver.

In conclusion, road accidents are a major problem facing almost every nation due to the loss of life and property of individuals. However, it is important to know that road accidents can be prevented by following some simple safety measures. It is important to obey traffic rules and signals as this can help in preventing accidents by ensuring that all drivers are following the same guidelines.

Additionally, cautiousness on the road , wearing of seatbelt and following other procedures like paying attention to the road, avoid drinking while driving, making sure the vehicle is in good conditions before putting it on the road, keeping your seed within the limit, know when you are tired and have some rest if needed. By taking these precautions, we can help reduce the risk of road accidents and keep our roads safe for everyone.
