APC Defeat in Oyo Gubernatorial Election, I Saw It Coming - Alawuje

The DOJ National Coordinator and Director General, Disciples of Jagaban Independent Campaign Council, Comrade Abdulhakeem Adegoke Alawuje said, in a press statement released on Thursday, 23rd March, 2023, that he saw Oyo State APC losing in the just concluded governorship  months before.

According to him, he made ""frantic efforts to make the leadership of the party, at the national and the state levels, to see the need to take decisive steps capable of changing the tide and avert the great loss we now experience. Unfortunately, the powers that be ignored both the messenger and the message and saw those red signals as nothing until the party fell flat before the incumbent governor of the state, Engr Abiodun Oluwaseyi Makinde."

"Anyways, Oyo State APC should start planning against 2027 general elections in earnest and make sure that everybody is carried along, since politics is not all about the way I want it but the way we all want it to go. Politics of exclusivity must give way to that of inclusiveness in Oyo State APC for guaranteed victory in the 2027 elections."

"I feel so pained by the outcome of the last Saturday elections in Oyo State. It is the poorest showing of our progressive party in the recent time."

"The last time we had a similar scenario was in 2007, when Professor Taoheed Adedoja, was drafted from the conservative bloc to contest on the platform of the Action Congress, a progressive party."

I want to implore the progressive elements and the generality of membership of APC in Oyo State to kick-start the re-building process, work on genuine reconciliation with aggreived members within and outside the party and allow internal democracy to thrive within the party structure."

"On behalf of the leadership and the entire membership of Disciples of Jagaban, I cannot but heartily congratulate His Excellency, Engr Oluwaseyi Abiodun Makinde on his re-election. It is our prayer and belief that your second term will further raise the bar of governance and impact positively on the general well-being of the good people of our dear Pacesetter State", Alawuje concluded.
