Akoko youths visit AAUA VC, Seek Collaborative Efforts Between Varsity and Host Community

Akoko South West Youth Forum (AKSWYF) on Wednesday 27th April 2023, paid a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba Akoko, Prof. Olugbenga Ige. The forum expressed their deep condemnation of the tragic murder of a graduating student from the University few weeks ago. The leadership of the forum, ably represented by Joseph Ojo Oguntuyi, Chairman of the Caretaker Committee, conveyed their heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased and demanded swift justice for the heinous crime.

During the courtesy visit, the AKSWYF highlighted the forum's appreciation for the Vice Chancellor's diligent efforts in maintaining a peaceful and conducive academic environment within the university. They acknowledged the remarkable absence of strikes, industrial actions, and student unrest, which has contributed to the overall growth and success of the institution.

Apart from addressing the murder incident, the Forum and the Vice Chancellor discussed several vital issues concerning the relationship between the forum and the host community. Recognizing the importance of fostering a strong bond between the university community and the local populace, both parties expressed their commitment to further collaboration and cooperation.

In response, Prof. Olugbenga Ige expressed his gratitude to the AKSWYF for their visit and emphasized the need for continued cooperation between the university and the host community. He acknowledged the significance of maintaining a harmonious relationship, which would promote mutual growth and development.

The leadership of the forum appreciated the Vice Chancellor and the University Community for giving the youths the opportunity to contribute to the development of the University. The Vice Chancellor was assured of the continued support and collaboration between the youths of the local government and the university community.
