Under the auspices of the Akoko Citizens Engage Project, sponsored by YIAGA Africa and the UK Foreign Office for Development, a grand town hall meeting took place in Oka Akoko, drawing a significant number of attendees and guests. The highlight of the event was the presence of Honorable Raymond Dauda, representing Akoko South-West 1, who engaged with constituents on various issues and initiatives.
During the meeting, concerns were raised about the physically impaired/challenged individuals in the constituency and across Ondo State. Honorable Raymond Dauda assured attendees that he prioritizes their concerns and is actively involved in addressing them through intervention programs. He also mentioned the ongoing efforts in the House of Assembly to pass legislation specifically focused on the physically challenged community.
One of the key requests made during the town hall meeting was to promote the mentorship of young, energetic members of the constituency, nurturing them to become future political leaders and individuals of integrity. The coordinator of the Akoko Citizens Engage Project, Jeremiah Babaleye, proposed a Leadership and Career Skills Training to be hosted in Akoko in March, which Honorable Raymond Dauda agreed to support.
The Honorable received commendation from both panelists and attendees for his consistent efforts in providing free Jamb forms to secondary school graduates in his constituency through his foundation, The Rod Foundation. He pledged to continue this legacy and expand it to include assistance in securing admission to federal universities and scholarship opportunities for young graduates.
Attendees also requested more town hall meetings targeting diverse groups within the constituency, with increased publicity to encourage broader participation. Honorable Raymond Dauda assured them of his commitment to engaging with constituents and encouraged them to reach out to him directly with suggestions and concerns.
On the topic of agricultural policy and food security amidst insecurity and inflation, the Honorable reiterated his support for local farmers and pledged to intensify efforts, including exploring options for mechanized farming.
Additionally, Honorable Raymond Dauda highlighted his ROD Teachers Support Program, which provides financial assistance to secondary school teachers in the community to enhance educational outcomes.
In closing, attendees expressed appreciation for the Honorable's grassroots leadership and commitment to the constituency. Honorable Raymond Dauda thanked participants and YIAGA for their support, concluding the event with the distribution of Jamb forms followed by a photo session.
