An automobile mechanic, Kehinde Eniola, 30, was on Thursday arraigned before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan for allegedly stealing his customer’s car parts and N60, 000 cash.
The police charged Eniola with theft and obtaining money by false pretence.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Prosecutor, Insp Oladejo Balogun, told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offences in October 2022 at Moremi, Bode area, Ibadan.
Balogun alleged that Eniola fraudulently obtained N60,000 cash from his customer, Lukuman Yusuf, under false pretence to repair his vehicle gear.
He alleged that the defendant stole Yusuf’s Toyota Sienna gear box worth N700, 000 and unlawfully damaged the vehicle.
He said the offence contravened the provisions of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs Olasinmibo Sanusi-Zubair, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N300, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case untill May 22 for hearing. (NAN)
