His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde has tasked the 2024 Batch 'A' stream two Corps members mobilised to Oyo State for their one year mandatory national service to be optimistic about the progress and success of our country despite the current challenges confronting the nation.
He said challenges are meant to be overcome and that all hands must be on deck to take Nigeria to a greater height.
The Governor who was represented by the Hon. Commissioner for youth, Miss.Wasilat Adegoke said this while delivering his address at the Swearing-in ceremony for the Corps members at the NYSC permanent orientation camp,Iseyin.
He congratulated the young graduates whom he described as sophisticated, energetic and resourceful for the successful completion of their academic journey which qualified them for national service. He urged them to take the three-week orientation course seriously which has been designed to meet the yearnings of the Youths.
Makinde acknowledged and commended the unquantifiable contributions of the National Youth Service Corps to the indivisibility of Nigeria.He urged the members not to join the band wagon of negativity but rather take their destinies in their hands at this critical stage of their life and continue to channel their ways progressively with high level of discipline, commitment and patriotism.
The Chairman NYSC Oyo State Governing Board who was represented by the Director of Youth Development, Oyo State Ministry of Youth, Alhaja Kudirat Mustapha expressed concern on the rate of unemployment among young graduates and implored the Corps members to embrace the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme with all sense of seriousness. “I want you to maintain a high standard of seriousness and diligence as you embrace the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme which has its central focus to help reduce the high rate of unemployment among young graduates” she said.
The State Coordinator NYSC Oyo State, Comrade Odoba Abel Oche in his introductory address intimated Corps members about camp life which he said was intentionally designed to be regimented in order to inculcate into Corps Members the discipline needed for a successful life. He tasked Corps members to brace up and offer themselves humbly for the trainings which have been targeted at making them a better version of themselves.
