High Comrade Joseph Demighan Lamienghan, the Secretary General of the Delta State Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas (HOSTCOM) and founder of the Oil Voice of Niger Delta, has issued a statement praising the organizers of the ongoing nationwide protests.
Lamienghan commended the protesters for their maturity and for learning from past mistakes, urging leaders to take the demands of disadvantaged Nigerians seriously.
In his remarks, Lamienghan highlighted the critical issues of hunger and poor governance, stressing that raising these concerns requires courage. He encouraged Nigerians to engage in constructive criticism of government officials to foster a culture of honesty and transparency.
"Nigerians should stop praising people in government; instead, we should tell the leaders the truth in a very friendly way," Lamienghan stated. "I am calling for an end to divisive tactics and urging citizens to focus on collective efforts to improve the nation."
Additionally, Comrade Lamienghan advised the Nigerian police to uphold their role as peacekeepers and to refrain from using tear gas on protesters. He emphasized the importance of protecting youths and maintaining peace, suggesting that the police employ skilled engineers to enhance the protection of lives and property.
"The Nigerian police should remain professional peacemakers and stop using tear gas on our youths," he urged.
High Comrade Lamienghan's statements reflect a growing sentiment among Nigerians for more responsible and responsive governance. His call for unity and constructive dialogue underscores the need for leaders to listen to and address the genuine concerns of the people.
