Eight scholars from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA), have earned recognition in the 2024 Stanford-Elsevier list of the top 2% of scientists globally.
The recognized academics from AAUA include Prof. Nurudeen Abiola Oladoja with 103 publications, Prof. Adeleke Ashogbon with 21 publications, Prof. Taiwo Agbede with 47 publications, Dr. Taoreed Owolabi with 80 publications, Dr. Abayomi Oke with 25 publications, Andrew Falowo with 24 publications, Dr. Oluwatobi Oyeneyin with 43 publications, and Damilola Omoboyowa with 33 publications. Their works are indexed in Scopus, a leading database for academic research, which highlights the global contributions of these scholars.
The prestigious recognition is a result of a collaboration between Stanford University and Elsevier, a renowned Dutch academic publishing company. In the 2024 ranking, 233 Nigerian scientists were identified among the top 2% worldwide. This ranking, which is highly regarded in academic circles, evaluates researchers across multiple fields based on their contributions and impact.
Drawing from the Scopus database, the ranking assessed over 8.5 million active scientists, selecting the top 190,000 from 22 major scientific fields, with further subdivisions into 176 categories. The evaluation is based on various academic performance indicators, including research impact and citation count, providing a detailed analysis of each scientist's career achievements and recent research contributions.
