The Kano State Hisbah Board has confirmed the arrest of Auwal Danladi Sankara, the Jigawa State Commissioner for Special Duties, on charges of being involved in an inappropriate relationship with a married woman.
He was reportedly found in a compromising situation with the woman in an unfinished building believed to belong to him.
Abba Sufi, Director General of the Hisbah Board, confirmed the arrest, citing numerous complaints about Sankara’s actions.
"We detained Auwal Danladi Sankara after tracking him based on the reports we received concerning his improper conduct with a married woman," Sufi stated.
The arrest was prompted by a complaint lodged by Nasiru Bulama, the woman’s husband, accusing Sankara of having an affair with his wife, Tasleem Baba Nabegu, who is also the mother of their two children.
Bulama brought his complaint to the Kano State Police, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Hisbah Board.
Sufi also accused Sankara of operating illegal drug facilities under the cover of hotels, which were reportedly being used for both drug trafficking and prostitution.
Hisbah plans to take the case to court, with a hearing scheduled for Monday.
