Aiyedatiwa hands over utility vehicles to local government Chairmen

Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has presented Toyota Hilux vehicles to the newly sworn-in chairmen of the 18 local government areas in the state.

The presentation ceremony, which took place on Monday at the Government House in Akure, underscored the administration’s commitment to enhancing governance at the grassroots level and improving service delivery across local councils.

Speaking at the event, Governor Aiyedatiwa noted that the vehicles were provided to ease mobility and enhance efficiency in the performance of the chairmen’s responsibilities.

He reiterated the crucial role of local government administration in governance and assured that his administration would continue to equip council leaders with the necessary tools to serve their communities effectively.

“This government prioritizes grassroots development, and we are determined to support local councils in every possible way. I personally believe in local government autonomy and will continue to advocate for it. These vehicles are not meant for luxury but to enable you to reach every part of your local government and deliver quality service to the people,” he stated.

The Governor further urged the chairmen to uphold accountability, transparency, and responsiveness in their duties, emphasizing that their effectiveness at the local level would significantly contribute to the broader development of Ondo State.

Expressing appreciation on behalf of his colleagues, the Chairman of the Ondo State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) and Akure South Local Government Chairman, Gbenga Fasua, commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for the initiative.

He assured the Governor of their dedication to promoting good governance, fostering grassroots development, and implementing policies that benefit the people.
