Prof. Festus Alabi to deliver AAUA’s 37th inaugural lecture

Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA), Ondo State, is set to host its 37th Inaugural Lecture, to be delivered by Professor Festus Oluwole Alabi of the Department of Educational Management.

The lecture, themed “The Man and the Plant in the School System: Predator or Green Influencer?”, is scheduled for Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at the University’s Multipurpose Hall. The event will begin at 2:00 PM, with guests expected to be seated by 1:30 PM. The Vice Chancellor, Professor Olugbenga Ige, will preside over the occasion as chairman.

According to Professor Adebisi Daramola, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) and Chairman of the Ceremonies Committee, preparations for the lecture are in top gear to ensure a successful outing.

Professor Alabi began his academic journey with a B.Ed. in Religious Studies from the then Ondo State University, Ado-Ekiti, in 1990. He proceeded to Lagos State University for his M.Ed. in Educational Administration and Planning in 1992 and later obtained his Ph.D. in Educational Management from AAUA in 2012.

He joined the University in 2005 as an Assistant Lecturer and rose through the ranks to become a Professor of Educational Management in 2021. Over the years, he has held several academic leadership positions, including Acting Head of Department and currently serves as Sub-Dean of the Postgraduate School.

Prof. Alabi has made significant scholarly contributions, co-authoring five books, editing one, and contributing to two others. He has published more than 40 journal articles and supervised 11 postgraduate students, including three doctoral candidates. His academic engagements have taken him to over 20 conferences, both within and outside Nigeria, including Ghana and Georgia.

He holds memberships in key professional bodies such as the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), Nigeria Association of Educational Administration and Planning (NAEAP), Commonwealth Council for Educational Administration and Management (CCEAM), and the Nigerian Institute of Management (AMNIM).

Beyond academia, Prof. Alabi has served in public office, having represented his constituency in the Ondo State House of Assembly from 1999 to 2003, and later serving as a Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Ondo State from 2011 to 2015.
