The Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has charged members of the 2025 Batch B Stream 1 of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) deployed to the state to uphold integrity, hard work, and respect for cultural diversity throughout their service year.
Governor Makinde, who made the remarks during the official swearing-in ceremony of the corps members, emphasized that their behaviour, attitude, and decisions during the service year would not only reflect their personal values but also their dedication to the progress of the nation.
The ceremony was held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Ogbakuta, Iseyin, where the Governor was represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Wasilat Adegoke. Welcoming the corps members to Oyo State, he reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring a peaceful and impactful service year.
The Governor also underscored the role of corps members as contributors to state and national development, encouraging them to take up their responsibilities with seriousness and purpose.
Speaking on the significance of the orientation course, he urged the corps members to engage fully with the program, noting that the activities are structured to instill discipline and prepare them for life after service.
“Dear Corps Members, as you take the Oath of Allegiance today, remember that this is a call to serve your country with loyalty, to uplift the communities you are sent to, and to leave a lasting legacy of development and unity.”
Governor Makinde further reassured the new corps members of the state government’s continued collaboration with the NYSC to enhance their welfare and security.
> “Your security is a matter we take seriously, and I assure you that all necessary measures have been put in place to protect you throughout your service year,” he noted.
Earlier, in his address, the NYSC Oyo State Coordinator, Mr. Kayode Ola Peters, expressed appreciation to Governor Makinde for his unwavering support to the scheme, describing the state as a model of corps members' welfare in the country.
He reminded the corps members of the importance of full participation in all camp programs, stressing that the experiences would equip them with relevant skills for both post-camp and post-service life.
The event featured the administration of the oath of allegiance and a tug-of-war demonstration by members of the Man O' War, marking key highlights of the opening ceremony.
