No fewer than 65 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), African Democratic Congress (ADC), and Labour Party (LP) have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikare Akoko, Akoko North East Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The development was contained in a statement by Comrade Ade Fowowe, spokesman to an APC chieftain in the area, Hon. Prince Feyisayo Ayodele.
Receiving the defectors, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Mobilisation, Alhaji Umar Abdulazeez Al-Amaam, urged them to work for the victory of the APC in the 2027 general election.
Al-Amaam, who is also a convener of One Voice Network, an APC support group, charged the defectors to align with the developmental strides of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, describing him as a performer whose records are visible across the state.
He disclosed that the Governor would, at a later date, officially welcome the new members into the ruling party, adding that more opposition figures were set to join the APC in the months ahead.
Ayodele, while addressing party faithful, pledged his total support for Governor Aiyedatiwa, noting that his policies and programmes have continued to drive development across Ondo State.
He advised the defectors to embrace the Governor’s vision and maintain unity within the party as it prepares for the 2027 polls.
Ayodele further assured that Akoko North East would mobilise massive votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election, stressing that his reforms were already laying the foundation for a stronger economy.
He maintained that the APC remained the only platform capable of delivering progressive governance to Nigerians and vowed to work with others to deepen the party’s influence at the grassroots.
