No fewer than 50 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Supare-Akoko, Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The decampees were mobilized by the FEFA Group under the leadership of Hon. Prince Feyisayo Ayodele, who described the move as a demonstration of confidence in the progressive leadership of the APC at both state and local levels.
The defectors were formally received into the party by the SUBEB Chairman, Akoko South West, Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimtan, alongside the APC Chairman in the local government.
Speaking shortly after the defection, Ayodele who was represented by his close ally, Comr. Ade Fowowe, noted that although the number of defectors exceeded 50, the officially mobilized members from his group were those who had long resolved to align with the ruling party.
“Although those that decamped were more than 50 people, it was 50 people that we mobilized who are members of our group,” he said.
The event drew a large crowd of party supporters who hailed the development as another boost for the APC ahead of future elections in the area.
