A Non-Governmental Organisation, Charakids Foundation, has awarded scholarships to seven indigent students of Anglican Grammar School, Ijare, in Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State for their outstanding performance in the 2024/2025 academic session.
Presenting the awards on behalf of the foundation, the Planning and Logistics Team Member, Mr. Olamilekan Ogunsimide, said the initiative was designed to encourage excellence and reward hard work among young learners.
He explained that the beneficiaries were selected by the school authorities based on academic performance, adding that three students received full scholarships of ₦120,000 each, while four others got partial scholarships of ₦40,000 each.
According to him, the funds would cover school fees, uniforms, textbooks, bags, notebooks and sandals. “This is a little way we can contribute our quota to the development of education in the society by appreciating and celebrating hard work,” Ogunsimide said.
He urged government at all levels to pay greater attention to education, stressing that the beneficiaries should take the award as motivation to do better in their studies.
The school’s Principal, Mrs. Aduke Adeyosoye, commended the foundation for rewarding academic excellence, saying the gesture would ease the burden on struggling parents and inspire students to work harder.
One of the parents, Mrs. Fadeyomi Sileola, expressed gratitude to the foundation, describing the ₦120,000 scholarship as a huge relief for her family. “I am not educated because I didn’t have the opportunity to go to school, but I know the value of education,” she said.
All the beneficiaries thanked the foundation and promised to remain diligent and serve as worthy ambassadors of Charakids Foundation in the future.
