Ignore distractions - BTO for PBAT 2027 backs Tunji-Ojo

A political support group, BTO for PBAT 2027, has declared its full support for the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, amid renewed controversies surrounding his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) record.

The group’s reaction followed recent reports revisiting claims about the authenticity of the Minister’s NYSC service year. It was earlier reported that Premium Times had written to the NYSC in 2023, seeking clarification on the matter. In response, the NYSC confirmed that Dr. Tunji-Ojo was duly mobilized and had completed his service as required.

Addressing journalists in Akure on Saturday, the spokesperson of the group, Folajimi Adewumi, dismissed the fresh debate as “a cheap and calculated distraction aimed at tarnishing the image of a performing Minister.”

According to Adewumi, “Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has become the face of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration because of his excellent delivery and innovative reforms at the Ministry of Interior. His rising profile has made him a target for those who feel threatened by his performance.”

He added that the group remained unwavering in its loyalty to the Minister and encouraged him to stay focused on his duties rather than be distracted by political attacks.

“We want to clearly state that Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has our total support. Nigerians can see the transformation he has brought to the Ministry of Interior. We urge him not to be distracted by naysayers but to continue his good work for the progress of the nation,” Adewumi said.

The group also advised Nigerians to disregard any attempts to malign the Minister’s reputation, insisting that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu required dedicated and result-oriented public servants like Tunji-Ojo to achieve its Renewed Hope Agenda.

Reaffirming its loyalty to President Tinubu, BTO for PBAT 2027 expressed confidence in Dr. Tunji-Ojo’s continued commitment to the success of the administration.
