It was a night of splendour, inspiration, and celebration on Sunday, October 12, 2025, as distinguished Nigerians were recognised at the Topshot Leadership Legacy Awards (TLLA) held in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
The event, which attracted an impressive turnout of dignitaries and thought leaders, featured a stimulating lecture delivered by the Public Relations Officer of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Mr. Adebanjo Adegbenro, who was represented by Mrs. Uloma Mella Iremiren. He spoke on the theme “Politics Ends, Governance Begins: Redefining Leadership for Development.”
Adegbenro, in his presentation, examined Nigeria’s leadership challenges and offered profound insights on the need to build strong institutions, earn public trust, and promote sustainable development through purposeful governance.
The awards ceremony celebrated individuals who have distinguished themselves through outstanding service, innovation, and community impact. Among the awardees were Hon. Dr. D. I. Kekemeke, Chairman of NIPOST, who received the Lifetime Achiever Award; His Eminent Apostle (Dr.) Amb. Francis Adekunle Adegbenro, the World Lord Mayor, who bagged the Leadership Legacy Award; and Hon. Ayobami Ojo, who clinched the Leadership Man of the Year Award for his visionary and inclusive leadership style.
Also honoured was Dr. Olumide Aseere, Permanent Secretary and Director-General of PSTI, who was decorated with the Icon of Leadership Award.
Speaking after receiving the honour, Dr. Aseere described the event as “truly unforgettable,” dedicating his award to God, his family, and his team at PSTI.
"It was a truly unforgettable evening filled with splendor, as I was conferred with the Icon of Leadership Award for my humble contributions to the development of my state. I humbly dedicate this award to God Almighty, who granted me the opportunity to thrive in my career, my family, who stood by me through thick and thin, and my exceptional team members at PSTI,” he said.
He also expressed appreciation to Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for providing him with the platform to serve, as well as to the Head of Service, Mr. Bayo Philips, and other well-wishers, including Prince Dapo Ojo, Hon. Femi Fadahiro, and Mr. Ako of Ako Builders.
The awardees, in their collective remarks, described the recognition as both a motivation and a reminder to deepen their commitment to nation-building and service to humanity.
According to the organisers, the Topshot Leadership Legacy Awards aims to honour integrity, excellence, and accountability in public service while encouraging a new generation of leaders to uphold these enduring values.
