A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Prince Azeez Momoh Ricardo, has commended Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for approving and releasing ₦1.4 billion to clear the backlog of unpaid gratuities owed to retired local government workers and primary school teachers from 2014.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his aide, Odudu Ayodele, Ricardo described the gesture as a demonstration of Aiyedatiwa’s compassion and commitment to workers’ welfare.
He said the Governor’s action has brought relief and renewed hope to many senior citizens who had long awaited their entitlements.
According to Ricardo, the move further shows that Aiyedatiwa’s administration is people-centered and focused on fulfilling promises to the people of the state.
“This is another clear proof that Governor Aiyedatiwa is a leader who listens and acts promptly to ease the suffering of the people,” he said. “Clearing the gratuity arrears of retirees who served the state diligently is not just governance; it is humanity in action.”
He added that the Governor’s decision to prioritize pensioners despite financial challenges reflects prudence and empathy.
“The APC in Ondo State is proud of the Governor’s achievements so far. His leadership continues to give confidence to our people that better days lie ahead,” Ricardo added.
Governor Aiyedatiwa had on Monday, October 13, 2025, flagged off the payment of ₦1.4 billion in gratuity arrears to pensioners who retired from the local government and primary school system in 2014.
