A coalition of women-led Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) in Ondo State has thrown its weight behind Chief Olamide Falana, who is contesting for the House of Representatives seat for Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency.
The coalition described Falana’s candidacy as a “beacon of hope and inspiration for women in leadership,” applauding her courage, integrity, and unwavering commitment to public service.
In a statement issued after a strategic meeting in Akure, the group commended her decision to enter the race, noting that it reflects her dedication to inclusive governance and gender equity.
“Your decision to seek a seat in the House of Representatives reflects not only courage but a profound commitment to public service. Leadership at this level demands integrity, vision, and resilience — qualities you have demonstrated in abundance. As you step into this journey, remember that your voice represents countless other women who aspire to see progress, equity, and accountability in governance,” the statement read.
The women leaders further pointed to Chief Falana’s impressive record as Special Adviser to the Ondo State Governor on Gender Matters between 2021 and 2025, praising her for initiating impactful programmes that empowered women and promoted social inclusion across communities.
“As a member of the Women-Led NGO Coalition in Ondo State, you distinguished yourself through your advocacy and transformative leadership. We are fully in support of your aspiration and you can count on our total commitment,” the coalition stated.
Chief Olamide Falana, who also serves as Executive Director of the Girls to Women Research and Development Centre, is renowned for her advocacy for the girl-child and women’s empowerment, particularly through the Pad-A-Girl campaign in Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency.
