The Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Prof. Olugbenga Ige, has lauded the lawmaker representing Akoko South-West/South-East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Dr. Adegboyega Adefarati, for donating a fully-equipped ambulance to the institution.
Prof. Ige gave the commendation on Tuesday during the formal handover of the medical vehicle, describing the gesture as timely and impactful in strengthening the university’s healthcare delivery and emergency response capacity.
He said the donation would address a critical logistics gap in the institution’s medical services and further enhance the safety and wellbeing of staff and students.
“On behalf of the University community, I extend our profound gratitude to Honourable Adefarati for this generous donation,” Professor Ige stated. “With this state-of-the-art vehicle, our staff and students can be assured of a rapid and reliable emergency response when needed. It is also worthy of note that the donor’s father, the late Chief Adebayo Adefarati, a former Governor of Ondo State, was instrumental in bringing AAUA to Akungba; today, we see his son making meaningful contributions to the continued growth and welfare of the institution he helped to establish.”
The VC, who said the ambulance would bring huge relief to the institution’s medical unit, urged Akoko indigenes at home and abroad to emulate the lawmaker by supporting AAUA’s infrastructure drive.
Adefarati, while handing over the ambulance, reaffirmed his family's commitment to the growth of the university. He expressed confidence that the facility would significantly boost the institution’s emergency medical services.
“This ambulance will greatly enhance the delivery of emergency medical services to both students and staff. It is a robust and versatile medical transport vehicle, equipped to handle a variety of critical situations,” he remarked.
The lawmaker highlighted the ambulance’s advanced features, including a climate control system, automated stretcher, comprehensive oxygen setup, internal communication unit, siren and alarm system, medical bag, and dual electrical outlets suitable for powering essential equipment.
He said AAUA continues to uphold the legacy of his late father, former Governor Adebayo Adefarati, and praised the management, staff, and students for sustaining academic excellence and institutional growth.
