AWAEMAP hosts farewell dinner in honour of Comptroller Odusanya (Rtd.)

The Association of West African Exporters and Maritime Professionals (AWAEMAP) on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, held a farewell dinner in honour of the immediate past Customs Area Controller (CAC) of Lilypond Export Command, Comptroller A. Y. Odusanya (Rtd.), who served from September 2023 to August 2025.

The colourful event, which took place at the Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, brought together leading figures from the export, maritime, and logistics sectors to celebrate the retired Comptroller’s exemplary service, professionalism, and contribution to export facilitation in Nigeria.

In his goodwill message, the current CAC of Lilypond Export Command, Comptroller S. O. Ariyibi, commended AWAEMAP for its continuous partnership with the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and assured stakeholders of sustained collaboration.

He pledged his commitment to improving efficiency at the command and addressing challenges hindering export operations.

According to him, “Anything that hinders export is what the government does not want, and I will do all within my capacity to facilitate and support exporters.”

In his response, Comptroller A. Y. Odusanya (Rtd.) expressed heartfelt appreciation to AWAEMAP for its cooperation during his tenure.

He acknowledged the association’s vital role in promoting export trade and strengthening the nation’s economy.

The retired Controller highlighted the journey of Lilypond Export Command as a “one-stop export command” — a vision pioneered by Comptroller Mohammed Babandede, the first Controller of the Command, whose legacy he continued and has now passed on to his successor.

Also in attendance was Mr. Adewunmi Augustine, Area Commander, NDLEA Lilypond Command, who delivered a goodwill message commending the synergy between security agencies and the export community.

The President of AWAEMAP, Hon. Olumekun Olubunmi, in his remarks, gave a brief overview of the association’s growth and impact within the export sector, appreciating Comptroller Odusanya for his outstanding service and support during his tenure.

The Chairman, Board of Trustees (BOT), Alhaji Nofiu, also praised the retired Controller’s leadership, describing his time in office as one marked by cooperation, innovation, and measurable results in export facilitation.

In closing, the Vice President of AWAEMAP, Alhaji Raheem, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the Comptroller, customs officers, and members of the association.

He reaffirmed AWAEMAP’s commitment to continued collaboration with the new CAC toward greater progress in the export sector.

The dinner was graced by senior customs officers, exporters, maritime professionals, and key industry stakeholders who lauded Comptroller Odusanya’s legacy of dedication and integrity in public service.
