The Ondo State Police Command has begun a full investigation into the commotion caused by a loud bang near Polaris Bank in Owo, an incident that briefly alarmed residents on Friday.
In a statement released by the Command, officers were said to have responded immediately after the report was lodged, prompting an inquiry into the source of the noise.
Initial checks revealed that the disturbance came from a banger allegedly bought in a nearby supermarket. The police confirmed the arrest of Ayoola Daniel Ojumu, an Owo resident, who has reportedly admitted taking part in the act.
However, the second suspect — identified as the person who ignited the banger — fled the scene. The police said efforts are underway to locate and arrest him.
The Command used the opportunity to acknowledge the support of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, whom it credited for consistently strengthening security operations nationwide. It also appealed to parents and guardians to keep close watch on their children during the festive period to prevent disorderly acts.
The arrested suspect will face prosecution once the investigation is wrapped up. The police further encouraged residents to stay alert and share credible information that could help security agencies maintain peace in the state.
