Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), is set to host its 51st Inaugural Lecture, to be delivered by Prof. Dele David Abajingin, a renowned scholar in Theoretical Physics and one of the institution’s long-standing academics.
The lecture, titled “A Low-Value Alternating Electromagnetic Field for Malaria Therapy: A New Dance Step to the Same Old Drummer,” will take place on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at the University Multipurpose Hall.
According to a statement issued by the Chairman of the Ceremonies Committee and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Adebisi Daramola, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, will preside over the event. The lecture will begin at 2:00 PM, while guests are expected to be seated by 1:30 PM.
Prof. Abajingin, whose academic journey spans nearly five decades, began his higher education with a National Certificate of Education (NCE) in Physics and Mathematics obtained in 1976 at the former Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo. He later proceeded to the University of Benin where he earned a Bachelor of Education (Science) in 1983. He obtained a Master of Science degree in Physics from the University of Ibadan in 1988 and capped his academic training with a PhD in Physics from the University of Benin in 2008.
He joined AAUA in 2000 as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Physics and Electronics and steadily rose through the ranks, becoming a Professor in 2019 after years of outstanding teaching, research, and administrative service.
Over the years, Prof. Abajingin has served the University in various capacities. He has twice led the Department of Physics and Electronics as Head of Department and has also functioned in acting capacity as Head of both the Computer Science and Mathematical Sciences Departments. His administrative portfolio includes coordinating the Departmental Undergraduate Programme and representing the Faculty of Science on the Institute of Education Promotion and Board of Studies.
A prolific academic, he has authored four books and 32 published journal articles, with four additional papers yet to be published. His scholarly engagements extend beyond Nigeria, having presented research findings at conferences within the country and overseas, including notable events in Ghana and South Korea.
He is also a dedicated member of several professional bodies, such as the Nigerian Association of Mathematical Physics, the Ghana Society of Science, the Society of Computational and Experimental Science and Engineering, and the Nigerian Institute of Physics.
The University community and invited guests are expected to converge for what promises to be a thought-provoking and impactful inaugural lecture.
