Chiefs under the leadership of the Owa Ale of Ikare, the Adimula and first-class monarch of Ikare Kingdom, have endorsed Senator Jide Ipinsagba for a second term in the Senate, representing the Ondo North Senatorial District.
The endorsement was announced during a meeting between the monarch’s chiefs and the senator at his country home in Ikare-Akoko, where the traditional leaders declared their collective support for his re-election bid.
Those present at the meeting included High Chief Oliku of Iku-land, High Chief Mukaila Bello, the Alaja of Okegbe, High Chief Adebisi Abraham, High Chief Olono of Okegbe, as well as other prominent chiefs from Ikare-Akoko.
Speaking on behalf of the traditional institution, High Chief Oliku said the decision to back Ipinsagba was based on his performance in office, particularly in the areas of legislation, constituency projects and youth-focused initiatives, despite the country’s economic challenges.
“In the face of Nigeria’s economic challenges, Senator Ipinsagba has distinguished himself through purposeful representation, delivering tangible results for our people,” Oliku said.
In a further show of support, the Alaja of Okegbe, High Chief Adebisi Abraham, donated a parcel of land for the construction of what was described as the first recreational centre in Akoko, a project being facilitated by the senator to boost youth engagement and community development.
The chiefs also commended Ipinsagba’s interventions in agriculture, infrastructure and sustainable development across Ondo North, urging residents of the senatorial district to support his return to the National Assembly.
Responding, Ipinsagba expressed gratitude to the traditional rulers, describing their endorsement as a confidence boost and a call to deeper service, while pledging to deliver more dividends of democracy if re-elected.
