Akoko N/E elders endorse Ehindero for second term as ‘Ounje Arugbo’ reaches 100 beneficiaries

Elders and residents of Akoko North East Local Government Area of Ondo State have thrown their weight behind the re-election bid of the member representing Akoko North East/North West Federal Constituency, Hon. Ifeoluwa Ehindero, following the distribution of food items to elderly persons under the Ounje Arugbo initiative.

The outreach, organised by the Ifeoluwa Continuity Movement, was held across wards in Akoko North East and benefited over 100 aged men and women, many of whom expressed appreciation for what they described as a rare show of care for senior citizens.

Some of the beneficiaries, who offered prayers for the lawmaker during the exercise, described Ehindero as a grassroots-oriented representative who has remained close to his people despite being in Abuja.

Speaking on behalf of the group, a leader of the Ifeoluwa Continuity Movement said the initiative was designed to complement the lawmaker’s people-centred approach to representation and to support the welfare of vulnerable residents.

“Our elders are the conscience of the community. This programme is about honouring them and reaffirming our belief in leadership that remembers the grassroots,” the spokesperson said.

The event attracted party leaders, community elders, youth representatives, women groups and political stakeholders from different parts of the local government, who openly declared support for the continuation of Ehindero’s representation beyond the 2027 general election.

Many speakers at the gathering noted that the lawmaker’s interventions in the constituency had gone beyond politics, adding that the Ounje Arugbo programme reflected a commitment to inclusive and compassionate leadership.

Residents at the event repeatedly chanted slogans in support of continuity, insisting that leaders who prioritise the welfare of the elderly and other vulnerable groups deserve another term in office.

The organisers said the initiative was part of ongoing efforts to strengthen community engagement and ensure that governance remains people-focused at all levels.
