Assailant lynched for killing Kano man during mosque prayer

A Kano State man was lynched by a mob after he allegedly killed Ladan Malam Zubairu, a resident and muezzin at Yusuf Garko Mosque in Maraba Quarters.

An eyewitness said the suspect went to Mallam Zubairu’s house, slaughtered him, and reportedly severed his throat. The assailant was immediately pursued by an angry mob, beaten to death, and set ablaze.

The police confirmed that the mob also torched the suspect’s residence, destroying property in the process.

Hundreds of youths reportedly took to the streets after the incident, warning that anyone committing a similar crime would face immediate retaliation.

Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said normalcy has been restored in the area with security personnel deployed to maintain order.

The investigation team recovered the victim’s throat from the suspect’s possession. Both bodies were taken to Mohammed Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital for certification and are awaiting autopsy.

CSP Kiyawa added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has ordered a thorough investigation to bring all perpetrators to justice, urging the public to remain calm and provide any information that could aid the probe.
