BREAKING: Man beaten to death during ceremony

A 25-year-old man, Maina Jano, has been beaten to death during a turbaning ceremony in Yobe State.

The incident was disclosed by counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, in a post on X, formerly Twitter, on Sunday.

According to Makama, the attack occurred during a turbaning ceremony held at Barwa Fulani settlement in Kafetuwa, Karasuwa Local Government Area of the state.

Quoting Makama’s post, he wrote: “A 25-year-old man, Maina Jano, has died after being attacked during a turbaning ceremony at Barwa Fulani settlement in Kafetuwa, Karasuwa Local Government Area of Yobe State.”

Makama said the incident happened at about 11:50pm on December 26, 2025, when youths were participating in a Shadi competition as part of activities marking the turbaning ceremony of Lamido Alhaji Kunjo.

He added that Jano, who was said to be a resident of Nassara Fulani settlement in Kumaganam, Yusufari Local Government Area, was attacked and beaten by an unidentified individual during the event.

According to the post, the victim sustained severe internal injuries and was rushed to the General Hospital in Kumaganam for treatment but later died.

Makama wrote: “Zagazola Makama learnt that the incident occurred at about 11:50 p.m. on Dec. 26, 2025, while youths were engaged in a Shadi competition during the ceremony of Lamido Alhaji Kunjo.

“According to the sources, Jano, a resident of Nassara Fulani settlement, Kumaganam, Yusufari LGA, was attacked and beaten by an unidentified man, sustaining serious internal injuries. He was rushed to the General Hospital, Kumaganam, for medical attention but later succumbed to his injuries.”
