Suspected armed robbers, in the early hours of Christmas Eve, reportedly broke into the Tabernacle Ministry International Church located at Tomato, GRA, Gboko, Benue State, and stole items valued at millions of naira.
A member of the church, identified simply as Jack, told our correspondent on Thursday that the assailants forced their way into the church premises during the early hours of Wednesday.
Confirming the incident, the General Overseer of the ministry, Pastor Gloria Mwuese Akade, said the burglary was discovered shortly after a church programme held the previous night.
Pastor Akade explained that the church had concluded its carol service on Tuesday evening and was securely locked before the incident occurred.
She said, “We had a carol service on Tuesday night and closed around 8 p.m., but early the next morning, we discovered that some thieves had broken into our church, possibly in the early hours of Wednesday, 24th December 2025.
“On arriving at the church, we discovered that the thieves had gained access after destroying the iron door before making away with church items.”
According to her, items stolen from the church included speakers, a mixer and amplifier, microphones, chargers and other valuables, with the total loss running into millions of naira.
The cleric added that the incident was reported to members of the Civil Protection Guard in Gboko, noting that further steps were being taken to prevent a recurrence.
