The Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Jalingo, has launched an investigation into reports that a baby died at the hospital due to a power outage.
The hospital disclosed this through its Public Relations unit after a lawyer, M.A. Danlami, alleged on social media that a woman lost her baby because there was no electricity at the facility.
FMC Jalingo said the incident has been reported to management and that a full investigation is underway to determine the facts.
The hospital emphasized that it treats all complaints seriously, particularly those involving patient safety and emergency care, and is committed to addressing any issues that could affect healthcare services.
While acknowledging the infrastructure challenges faced by public hospitals in Nigeria, the management stated that FMC Jalingo has backup systems and emergency plans to minimise the impact on critical medical services.
The facility noted that similar complaints in the past have been investigated and corrective measures implemented where necessary.
FMC Jalingo assured the public that the current investigation will be thorough, fair, and fact-based.
