Four children have lost their lives in Foron District, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, following a reprisal attack by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama said on his X account on Saturday that the assault came after local militias reportedly attacked herders and seized 163 cows.
The deceased children were identified as Precious Joshuah, 17; Isaac Joshuah, 9; Mary Joshuah, 7; and Eve Sambo, 3.
Makama explained that the killings occurred less than two days after coordinated attacks on pastoral communities in Barkin Ladi, Jos East, and Riyom LGAs, where at least 168 cattle were stolen and some poisoned.
He added that the militia rustled 137 cows from Nding community in Barkin Ladi and 34 cows from Kukukah community in Jos East, with only a few recovered afterward.
The analyst further revealed that nine cows died after consuming poisoned substances in Kwi village, Riyom LGA, raising fears and tensions in the region.
Security forces have since been deployed to the area to restore order, while Makama urged the Plateau State government and security agencies to take urgent action to apprehend perpetrators and prevent further attacks.
