The Kano State Police Command rescued a man from an angry crowd following an alleged blasphemy incident at a hotel in the Badawa area of Kano metropolis.
Sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred around 9:45 p.m. on December 21 at Sarina Hotel in Badawa Quarters.
The police reportedly received a distress call that three men — Musa Tasiu, Awwal Ibrahim, and Soja Snu, all from Dorayi Quarters — had visited the hotel to smoke shisha.
One of the sources said that Musa Tasiu allegedly entered the hotel mosque, broke the glass door, picked a copy of the Holy Qur’an and tore it.
“Following the incident, people within the premises mobilised in large numbers, and the suspect was on the verge of being lynched,” the source said.
A patrol team from the local division promptly responded, rescued the man, and restored calm in the area, sources added.
The source confirmed that the situation is now under control, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
