Three suspects killed as angry mob razes NSCDC outpost

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Kano State has confirmed that three suspects were lynched after a mob attacked and set ablaze its outpost in Danmaje, Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area of the state.

The corps disclosed that the incident occurred on Sunday night at about 10:30pm, according to a statement dated December 29, 2025, and signed by the Command Public Relations Officer, SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi.

According to the statement, residents of Yansango community had earlier brought three unidentified men, suspected to be motorcycle thieves, to the NSCDC outpost in Danmaje. The area where the suspects were apprehended was described as notorious for cases of motorcycle theft.

It added that before officers could commence investigation, residents from several neighbouring communities, including Yansango, Madinawa, Gagarawa, Limawa, Yankatsari, Danmaje and Gurjiya, converged on the outpost.

The statement said the crowd surrounded the facility and demanded that the suspects be handed over to them. The situation, however, reportedly degenerated as the mob became violent.

It stated that before security reinforcements could arrive, the attackers overpowered the officers on duty, set the outpost on fire and lynched the three suspects.

The NSCDC said its personnel managed to escape from the scene, though three officers sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical attention.

While urging members of the public to remain calm, the corps said the state commandant, acting on the directive of the Commandant General, had constituted a committee to investigate the incident.

According to the statement, the committee is expected to identify those responsible for the attack and ensure they are brought to justice.
