A student of the Nigerian Law School, Yola Campus, identified as Ayomiposi Ojajuni, has reportedly died by suicide after he was prevented from writing his bar final examinations.
As reported by Daily Post, the incident, which occurred on Saturday, December 6, became public on Sunday, sparking concerns among colleagues and members of the legal training community.
Ojajuni was said to have become distressed upon learning that he would not be permitted to join other candidates for the professional examination that commenced earlier that day.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the deceased allegedly ingested a poisonous substance shortly after receiving confirmation that he would not be allowed to sit for the exam.
He was rushed to the Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital in Yola but died on Sunday morning despite efforts to save him.
Insiders at the Yola Campus disclosed that the decision to bar him from the bar finals followed his alleged failure to respond to several official queries previously issued by the school.
Efforts to reach the Adamawa State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sulaiman Nguroje, were unsuccessful as of Sunday afternoon.
However, another police source confirmed the incident, describing the circumstances as tragic.
