‘We’re your children,’ Rivers Assembly members present new car to Wike [Video]

Members of the Rivers State House of Assembly on Saturday presented a brand new car to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, in Port Harcourt.

The presentation was made by the Speaker of the House, Martins Amaewhule, who handed over the car keys to the former Rivers State governor during a brief ceremony in the state capital.

Amaewhule described the gesture as a Christmas token from the lawmakers and their families, urging Wike to continue to see members of the Assembly as his “other children” residing at the Rivers State House of Assembly quarters.

He said the gift was meant to appreciate Wike’s leadership and sustained relationship with the legislature, adding that the lawmakers looked forward to strengthening that bond in the coming years.

“As part of Christmas, as part of the celebration we brought a little token to mark this Christmas for the year 2025, so that by 2026 we will be waiting for you. Your Excellency now that you have started it you won’t stop,” Amaewhule said.

“By 2026 we will be waiting for you and hopefully our wives will save more money to buy a better gift.

“On behalf of members, on behalf of our spouses and children we present to you keys to a Toyota 2025 Camry.

“We know that you have plenty already but just add this one to the ones you already have.”
