The Registrar of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Mr Olugbenga Arajulu, has been honoured with the Akoni Oodua Heritage Education Merit Award 2025 in recognition of his contributions to educational leadership and administration.
The award, conferred by Oodua Edu-Essence Magazine, identified Arajulu as one of Nigeria’s outstanding education leaders for the year.
The presentation took place on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at the historic Enuwa (Ile Oodua) Palace of the Ooni of Ife, Osun State.
The ceremony, which was held under the theme, ‘Searching through the Role of Indigenous Knowledge in the Educational Development of Nigeria’, was hosted by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.
Several dignitaries graced the event, including the Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee in Ondo State, Chief Gabriel Ariyo, who served as Father of the Day; the Olori of Ikare-Akoko, Folasade Momoh, as Mother of the Day; and a Professor of Philosophy at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Prof Adeola Falaiye, who delivered the keynote lecture.
The award plaque was formally presented to Arajulu in his office on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. Speaking during the presentation, the award coordinator, Asiwaju Temidayo Ayodele, said the registrar was selected for his diligence, dedication to duty and exemplary leadership qualities.
Ayodele noted that Arajulu had distinguished himself through his commitment to excellence, adding that his tenure had been marked by integrity, professionalism and administrative efficiency.
In his response, the AAUA registrar expressed gratitude to the organisers for the recognition, describing the honour as a motivation to sustain high professional standards in the discharge of his responsibilities as the university’s chief administrative officer.
The latest recognition comes shortly after the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof Olugbenga Ige, was listed among Nigeria’s Best Performing Vice-Chancellors by the internationally acclaimed TELL magazine, further underscoring the university’s growing profile in the nation’s education sector.
