The Senior Pastor of Harvesters International Church, Bolaji Idowu, has unveiled a three-month financial support scheme for church members who are currently unemployed but actively involved in church service.
Under the initiative, eligible beneficiaries will receive a monthly stipend of N50,000 to cushion the effects of job loss and support them while seeking new employment.
Idowu announced the programme during a church service on Sunday, explaining that the gesture was aimed at helping affected members remain stable during periods of transition.
He said, “All those that serve in church that are in between jobs, watch what I said. You know, they’re in between jobs. You used to have a job, you lost a job. For the next three months, we’ll be giving you N50,000 every month to help them till they get their next job.”
The pastor clarified that the scheme would cover leaders and workers serving in various capacities within the church.
“So all of those leaders that serve in church that I just mentioned, you know, we’re giving N50,000 just to help them stabilise. One of the things the church should do is to be there for one another, hallelujah, to help them stabilise,” he added.
Idowu also urged eligible members to approach the church administration for registration, noting that the process would be seamless due to the trust built through their commitment to service.
He said, “If you’re that kind of person, that category, you want to see your pastor and your church administration and register. We’re not going to do so many interviews because for you to serve, we trust the fact that you’re honest.”
The announcement has drawn positive reactions from members, who described the initiative as a timely and practical expression of care for those facing employment challenges.
