There was relief in Isua Akoko, Akoko South-East Local Government Area of Ondo State, after the police rescued a man abducted by armed assailants along the Ifira–Isua Akoko Road.
The rescue was disclosed in a statement issued by the Ondo State Police Command on Thursday and signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, for the Commissioner of Police.
The victim, Jimoh Isah, was reportedly kidnapped at about 4:10 pm on Wednesday while riding a motorcycle with his wife and child when four gunmen ambushed them on the route.
Police said the attackers seized Isah and fled into the bush, leaving behind his wife, their child and another man who is physically challenged.
Following a distress call received at the Isua Divisional Police Headquarters, security operatives were swiftly deployed alongside community collaborators to conduct an extensive search of nearby forests and escape paths.
The pressure mounted by the joint team forced the kidnappers to abandon the victim, who was later recovered without injuries and reunited with his family.
The Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, praised the professionalism of the operatives and reaffirmed the command’s determination to rid the state of criminal elements, while urging residents to continue to support security agencies with useful information.
