The Management of the Federal University of Technology Teaching Hospital (FUTATH), Akure, Ondo State, has disowned a viral social media message announcing the resumption of newly appointed staff, describing it as fake, misleading and unauthorised.
The hospital, in a statement on Sunday, said the circulating “Flash Info” claiming that staff appointments had been issued and that resumption would commence on January 5, 2026, did not emanate from the institution.
Management clarified that it had not issued letters of appointment to any individual following the recent federal staff verification exercise, nor had it approved any resumption for Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) capturing or departmental duties.
According to the statement, the federal government’s verification process for staff of the hospital is still ongoing, stressing that no date has been fixed for IPPIS enrolment or the commencement of full operations.
The hospital also dissociated itself from one Femi Odimayo, whose name was reportedly attached to the fake message, insisting that he has no authority to speak or act on behalf of the institution.
“Femi Odimayo holds no position, appointment or authorisation from the Management of FUTA Teaching Hospital to issue statements on its behalf,” the statement read.
Management warned that anyone found on the hospital premises without official clearance would be treated as an impostor and handed over to law enforcement agencies for appropriate action.
The public was urged to disregard the false information and rely solely on verified and official communication channels of the hospital for updates, while remaining vigilant against misinformation during the ongoing federal processes.
