A video circulating on X, formerly Twitter, has sparked online reactions after alleging that a Nigerian man was deported shortly after turning in a lost wallet to the police in a European country.
The clip, shared by an X user identified as Somto Okonkwo and sighted by Veracity, featured a narrator recounting how the Nigerian reportedly found a wallet containing identification cards and about €4,500.
According to the account, the man took the wallet to a police station to report it, explaining that he did not know the owner and only wanted to return the item in good faith.
The narrator claimed that while the police initially praised the act and began documenting the incident, officials later requested the man’s personal identification.
He alleged that the situation changed when it was discovered that the Nigerian had no valid immigration documents, leading to his immediate arrest.
The video further claimed that the man was quickly processed and put on a flight back to Nigeria the following day.
Describing the incident as unfortunate, the narrator warned undocumented migrants that acts of honesty may still expose them to immigration enforcement.
The video has since generated widespread discussion online, with users debating the risks faced by undocumented migrants and the consequences of strict immigration policies in foreign countries.
