The remains of a Federal Road Safety Corps officer, Lasisi Oluwamayokun, and her daughter, Adesewa, who were allegedly murdered, were on Tuesday buried in Osogbo, Osun State.
The funeral service held at St John’s Anglican Church, Ita-Olookan, Osogbo, drew family members, FRSC officials, friends and sympathisers, who gathered to mourn the mother and child.
Oluwamayokun, 38, was attached to the Ogun State Command of the FRSC. She and her daughter were declared missing on Sunday, November 2, 2025, after leaving their home at Obasanjo Hilltop Estate, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Police sources said “the pair never returned home,” a development that raised alarm among relatives and colleagues, leading to a formal report to security agencies.
Subsequent police investigations resulted in the arrest of Victor Fajemirokun, identified as the deceased officer’s boyfriend, in connection with the killings. When paraded before journalists, Fajemirokun reportedly confessed that he “lured Oluwamayokun and her daughter to Osun State, where they were killed with the assistance of suspected herbalists.”
Two other suspects, Gboyega Daramola and Sunday James, were also paraded by the police at the Osun State Police Command headquarters in Osogbo over their alleged roles in the crime.
Emotions ran high during the burial as colleagues of the slain officer wept openly while the caskets were lowered into the ground. A family member described the incident as devastating, saying, “This is a painful and heartbreaking loss. We are still struggling to understand how this could happen.”
The Osun State Police Command said investigations were still ongoing, adding that the suspects would be charged to court after the conclusion of the probe.
