The Vice-Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, has been named among the 20 best performing vice-chancellors in Nigeria by TELL Magazine.
The recognition was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Deputy Registrar, Information, Protocols and Public Relations and Head, Radio AAUA 90.3FM, Victor A. Akinpelumi.
According to the statement, the honour appeared in a special edition of the magazine themed, Integrity in Leadership: 20 Best Performing Vice-Chancellors in Nigeria, published between December 29, 2025 and January 5, 2026.
TELL Magazine explained that the selection was based on proven leadership capacity, sound academic administration and effective strategic management of Nigerian universities.
It added that Prof. Ige’s emergence was a reflection of his commitment to excellence and the positive changes recorded at Adekunle Ajasin University since he assumed office.
The magazine further noted that the Vice-Chancellor has distinguished himself through transparent governance, innovative policies and a clear vision for institutional growth.
The statement said the recognition had been warmly received by members of the university community, including staff, students and alumni, who described it as an affirmation of the university’s steady development.
It added that the award reinforces Adekunle Ajasin University’s status as a reputable institution and highlights the impact of ethical leadership in advancing higher education in Nigeria.
