The media team of Festus Akingbaso also known as Fessy West has dismissed as false a viral social media claim alleging that the federal lawmaker was planning or sponsoring violence in Idanre ahead of the forthcoming local government congress.
In a press statement released on Friday, the team described the allegation as misleading and malicious, noting that it was aimed at creating panic and damaging the reputation of the lawmaker representing Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency.
The statement maintained that the claim was entirely baseless and the handiwork of individuals seeking to incite unrest and generate unnecessary tension within the community.

According to the media team, Akingbaso has built his political career around peacebuilding, youth empowerment and community development, stressing that he has never supported or encouraged any form of violence or intimidation.
It further described the circulating post as a deliberate attempt to misinform the public and heat up the political atmosphere, warning that such misinformation could threaten the peace and stability enjoyed by residents of the constituency.
The team urged members of the public to disregard the allegations and avoid spreading unverified information capable of causing division or unrest, emphasising that political activities must remain peaceful and guided by democratic principles.
The statement also called on security agencies to investigate the source of the publication and ensure that those responsible for spreading false and inflammatory content are held accountable.
Reaffirming the lawmaker’s commitment to peaceful political engagement, the media team said Akingbaso remains focused on promoting unity among stakeholders and advancing development across Idanre and Ifedore communities.
