Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has defected from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party to the ruling All Progressives Congress, declaring that the move was driven by the developmental needs of the state.
In a statewide broadcast on Friday, the governor announced that he moved to the APC alongside members of his cabinet and key PDP officials across the state.
Fintiri said the decision followed extensive consultations and was taken in the overriding interest of accelerating growth, improving infrastructure, and enhancing the welfare of the people.
He added that aligning with the ruling party at the federal level would open up greater opportunities for Adamawa’s socio-economic advancement.
