The Commissioner representing the Itsekiri ethnic nationality on the board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, Mr Ofe Toghanrose Sunny, has said the recent visit of the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, to Warri has enhanced federal visibility in Delta State and deepened collaboration with the state government.
Toghanrose stated this on Thursday at the palace of the Ogiame Atuwatse III during the First Lady’s visit, describing the trip as a significant step towards strengthening ties between the Federal Government and the Niger Delta region.
He said the presence of the First Lady signalled renewed attention to the socio-economic potential of Warri and the wider region, adding that the engagement went beyond ceremonial activities.
According to him, her interaction with the monarch, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, community stakeholders, women groups and youth leaders underscored a commitment to inclusive development and national unity.
The commissioner noted that the visit was already fostering closer synergy between the Presidency’s Renewed Hope Initiative and the Delta State Government’s MORE Agenda, expressing optimism that federal programmes in women empowerment, healthcare, education and economic inclusion would gain traction in the area.
“The visit has amplified Warri’s voice at the federal level and drawn attention to our developmental needs and investment opportunities. We believe this renewed engagement will translate into tangible benefits for our people,” he said.
Toghanrose also commended the governor for what he described as strategic leadership that continues to attract national attention to the state, noting that the coordination between federal and state officials during the visit reflected a strong spirit of cooperation.
He added that DESOPADEC remained committed to partnering with federal initiatives to advance infrastructure and human capital development in oil-producing communities, stressing that collaboration was essential for sustainable growth in the Niger Delta.
The commissioner urged residents to take advantage of the increased federal attention to promote peace, attract investment and showcase the region’s economic potential.
He described the visit as a new phase of partnership that should be sustained for the benefit of the people.
