Former Ondo State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Princess Omowunmi Olatunji-Ohwovoriole, has congratulated the government and people of the state on the celebration of its 50th anniversary, describing the Golden Jubilee as a defining moment in the state’s history.
In a goodwill message to mark the milestone, Omowunmi said the anniversary symbolises the resilience, unity and progressive spirit that have sustained the Sunshine State since its creation five decades ago.
She noted that Ondo State’s journey had been shaped by collective sacrifice, steady development and a shared aspiration for sustainable growth, stressing that successive administrations had played vital roles in laying solid foundations for the state.
The former commissioner paid tribute to past governors for what she described as their effective governance, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture and social welfare, which, according to her, contributed significantly to the state’s advancement.
Omowunmi, an Akure princess, also commended the current administration of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, applauding his people-oriented and compassionate leadership style.
She highlighted the governor’s infrastructure drive, citing ongoing construction and rehabilitation of major roads, improved urban and rural connectivity, upgrades of healthcare facilities, expansion of educational infrastructure, as well as investments in public buildings and community-based projects across the state.
According to her, the interventions have boosted economic activities, enhanced access to essential social services and strengthened public confidence in governance.
She described Aiyedatiwa’s leadership as responsive and development-driven, adding that tangible results of his administration’s policies were evident across Ondo State.
The former commissioner urged residents to remain united and peaceful, while continuing to support government programmes aimed at promoting inclusive growth and long-term development.
She also prayed for sustained peace, divine guidance and greater prosperity for the state as it enters its next fifty years.
“Happy 50th anniversary to our beloved Sunshine State. Together, we will continue to build the Ondo State of our dreams,” she said.
