The Secretary of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, Princess Abike Bayo-Ilawole, has dismissed allegations making the rounds in the media that ₦400m was misappropriated in connection with the commission, describing the claims as baseless and misleading.
Bayo-Ilawole, who stated this in a statement on Thursday, said she would not engage in what she termed media propaganda or malicious publications, noting that such allegations were far from the truth and did not reflect the realities of the commission’s operations.
The OSOPADEC secretary explained that as the most senior civil servant involved in the activities of the commission and in her strategic role as secretary, it would be improper for her to be drawn into conjectures or trial by media over unsubstantiated claims.
She stressed that she remained committed to strictly adhering to the procedures and regulatory framework laid down by the Ondo State Government in the discharge of her duties, adding that she would not, under any circumstance, compromise the laws guiding the operations of the commission.
According to her, she would not allow herself to be distracted by what she described as unfounded allegations or be drawn into public exchanges over issues that lacked any factual basis.
Bayo-Ilawole maintained that anyone with a genuine grievance or contrary position should explore lawful and appropriate channels rather than resorting to media insinuations, insisting that due process remained the only acceptable route for addressing complaints.
She reaffirmed her loyalty to the Ondo State Government and her resolve not to compromise her career for personal gain, adding that she would ensure OSOPADEC faithfully achieved the purpose for which it was established and would not collude with anyone to defraud the people of the state.
