Sam Maris University Matriculates 413 Students at Second Ceremony

Sam Maris University, Supare-Akoko, Ondo State, has matriculated 413 fresh students at its second matriculation ceremony, recording its largest intake since the institution began academic activities.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Francis Gbore, said the development marked a major milestone for the private university, reflecting steady growth and fidelity to its vision of quality education and sustainable development.

Gbore disclosed that the university received 522 applications for the 2025/2026 academic session, offered provisional admission to 447 candidates and eventually enrolled 413 students who met academic and regulatory requirements.

According to him, the figure represents a 58.85 per cent increase over the previous year’s intake, making it the highest number of students admitted by the university since its establishment.

Formally admitting the students into the academic community, the vice-chancellor urged them to uphold discipline, integrity and academic excellence, noting that their admission came with the responsibility of contributing to national and global development.

He said the institution was committed to producing solution-driven, morally upright and globally competitive graduates, in line with the theme of the ceremony, Sustainable Growth and Development.

Gbore added that the university was expanding its academic programmes and facilities, including the introduction of foreign language courses and improved ICT infrastructure, to better position students for global relevance.

He also assured parents and guardians of the safety of their wards, stating that the university had strengthened collaboration with relevant security agencies to ensure a secure and conducive learning environment.

The vice-chancellor commended the Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Chief Promoter, Mr Sam T. Ologunorisa (SAN), members of the Governing Council and other stakeholders for their support, while congratulating the matriculating students and reaffirming the institution’s commitment to innovation and world-class education.
